"In-Shuck-ch"
Attending Sweat Lodge ceremonies, down below at Roger's Creek, has cleansed my body and opened my minds eye. Each time I drive down the long stretch of gravel road, which follows the Northern edge of Lillooet Lake, I can't help but feel the natural energy emanating from the region. A prominent feature which captures your attention, whether driving North or South, is a steep summit with twin peaks, called In-Shuck-ch. This inspiring pinnacle on the Northern edge of Garibaldi Park is enveloped with local legend. As the story goes, Inshuck-ch is where the local first nations scurried to during the last great flood. Even more intriguing is the rumours of petroglyphs carved into the steep face of the summit. The elevation of these ancient markings falls in relation to flood levels. As the flood receded, the petroglyphs were placed lower and lower down the face. If you're interested in witnessing these petroglyphs first hand, locals say the old bear trail spirals up the mountain like a vortex of energy reaching to the Creator... Vintage - 2002
